Let it Rain PDF Print E-mail

Well the rain has finally come with enough water to make a difference, both good and bad.

Mondy and Michael B. went out to have a look on Monday the 16th to see what they could see.

Our first stop was the parking lot of the Sunnvale Gun Club and just as it has in years past a steady flow of off-color water is coming from under the stone wall and streaming down the road then eventually into the creek below the dam.

Next we visited the creek near the point where it empties into the reservior, and it is really flowing dark and fast.

We also surveyed the reservior which has risen over 12 feet in the last three days.

Next we stopped at Chestnut area and McClellan Ranch then down to the Westvalley School Bridge and the Fremont fish ladder.

The stream is finally continuous down to the bay, and, with any luck, steelhead can now make the trip up to their spawning grounds.

We could hardly believe the amount of water down at La Avenida and so we looked for signs of fish at the Moffett ladder which looks to be operating.

We ended with a visit to the Central Avenue Fish Ladder which is finally operating after a long dry spell for that area of the stream.

I took photos of all of our journey, which you can view on the website by clicking here and here.
