Weeding, Habitat Restoration (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM)
The removal of invasive plants has been proceeding apace at McClellan Ranch thanks to the diligent effort of our volunteers. We can always use more help, though. Please think about joining us this Monday even if you can only stay part of the morning. This is definitely a satisfying effort as we reveal the true McClellan hidden under all the ivy. One can practically hear the cheers from the little native plants as they are released from the suffocating shadow of the invaders. Give me a call on my cell (408-857-6781) if you cannot find me when you come.

Bug Club (Benthic Macroinvertebrate Study) (5:30 AM - 8:30 AM)
Meets weekly
Some creek bugs are pollution sensitive, while others are tolerant. Looking at bugs we have collected from various sites on Stevens Creek tells us much about habitat quality. Steve Fend, US Geoloical Survey stream ecologist and entomologist guides us in our bug identifications. Whether you are a particularly buggy sort or not, our weekly bug club is a great place to meet and interact with others who want to learn more about the whats, whys and hows of our local ecology.
We meet almost every Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 or so in the McClellan Ranch Junior Museum in Cupertino. You are welcome to come and go during this time to suit your schedule.
